Ojai (pronounced “Oh-hi”) is a Chumash Indian name now thought to mean “Valley of the Moon,” although many residents who favor a previous translation fondly call our mountain-ringed valley “The Nest.” The Ojai Valley is known worldwide as an artists’ colony and spiritual mecca and as the locale of several famous spas and healing centers. It is also recognized for its annual tennis tournament, music festivals, and excellent private schools.
